It’s time for New York to think big.

Senator Kennedy has led the effort in the New York State Senate to invest in public transit, roads, bridges, airports and green infrastructure. Since he became Transportation Chair in 2019, New York has made record investments in infrastructure, but if the federal government does not step up, our progress is at risk.

President Biden has promised to Build Back Better after generations of disinvestment in our communities. With the passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, he is keeping that promise, investing $1.2 trillion to transform our nation's infrastructure. While the American Rescue Plan has stabilized the economy and is beating back the virus, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will make the transformative impact we need to move our nation forward.

WE NEED CONGRESS TO ACT NOW SO NEW YORK STATE CAN REALIZE ITS FULL POTENTIAL

WE NEED THE AMERICAN JOBS PLAN SO WE CAN MAKE THE INVESTMENTS OUR STATE NEEDS AND DESERVES

Where do we go from here?

The state of New York received a C- grade on the National Infrastructure Report Card.

That is unacceptable. We can do better.

Senator Tim Kennedy understands that real change starts locally.

Roads and Bridges

There are over 1,702 bridges and over 7,292 miles of highway that are in need of intense repair and renewal. Let’s BUILD BACK the base that keeps our communities moving forward.

Public Transportation

New Yorkers regularly spend 58.9% of their commuting time on public transportation. Let’s BUILD BACK a transportation system that returns time back to the people.

Housing

Over 1.7 million renters in New York are overwhelmed by monthly payments that account for 30% or more of their income. Affordable housing can’t just be an option. We need to BUILD BACK housing supply to make it a right.

Broadband

Internet access is no longer a luxury in our society, it’s a necessity; however, 13% of New York households do not have in-home internet access. We can’t let New York continue to buffer. Let’s BUILD BACK access to reliable internet for all.

Clean Energy

New Yorkers are already experiencing climate change. Statewide, there are 159,337 clean energy workers who continue to advance sustainability methods and promote clean production. Let’s BUILD BACK America’s workforce to reflect a green future today.

MANUFACTURING

There are 441,000 manufacturing workers in New York who serve as the backbone of our infrastructure industry, and without them we are incapable of advancing. In order to BUILD BACK our communities, we need to invest in those who embody our mission to revitalize our state.

Together, we can make these visions a reality. It’s what we do.
New Yorkers think big and accomplish great things when we unite
to make our communities better.

Change has
already begun.

Statewide Investments in Roads and Bridges - Senator Kennedy secured $285 million in additional funding for local roads and bridges, including the first increase for local roads in nearly a decade. He created a new $100 million fund for long-neglected urban communities throughout New York.

Reducing Congestion and Funding the MTA - Senator Kennedy led the conversation in the Senate to pass congestion pricing in lower Manhattan, ultimately helping to finance a more than $50 billion Capital Plan for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Buffalo’s Light Rail System

Buffalo has the only light rail system in New York State outside of the New York City region. In 2019, Senator Kennedy secured $100 million in dedicated capital revenue for major upgrades to the aging system, the first dedicated major capital investment in its 36 year history.

The Capital Region’s transformational project is set to convert an underutilized ramp off of Interstate 787 into an elevated linear park. The ramp will be a repurposed marvel creating a multi-use park for pedestrians and cyclists.

What used to be a mail sorting facility near New York City’s Pennsylvania Station has turned into an uplifting gateway for many. The world-class transit hub incorporates modernity and grandeur for old and new visitors.

Vehicle Electrification

The greatest source of pollution causing climate change is our transportation system. Senator Kennedy has led the effort to make our transportation network greener by encouraging and investing in the transition to clean electric vehicles.
